I just saw this myself. It will be sad again once we find out who the second casualty is.

But yea...drunk driving and speeding, its hard to feel too bad when he got someone else killed.
I completely agree with your thoughts on Ryan and his down to earth personality. As for the second part I feel slightly bad for both individuals, but I also realize that the other individual was probably a consenting adult and knew the type of person they were getting into the car with. Sober or inebriated, Ryan was a crazy guy and it was a risk to get in the car with him at any point in time. I am sure we all have known people similar to him and the other guys in Jackass.
I say this only because I have been in similar situations with similar individuals and have said to myself that I accept anything and everything that will occur to me that is a result from said action with said individuals.
I also will state that it will probably never be known whether or not the driver was under the influence of any substance as everything was burnt to a crisp.

He was likely also drinking with the individual who got into the car with him though so I agree hes a consenting adult who knew what he was doing. But drinking and driving is unforgiveable even if I loved the guy, a car doing 110mph is a missile and it could have hit anyone.
That information was not in the AP article that I read and it does not surprise me at all. My main point was that the individual in the car likely knew what they were getting into and deserve as much or as little sympathy as Ryan.
As for the unforgivable state of the act of drunk driving I could not agree more, even though I was an extreme abuser of it in my younger years. My current opinion on drunk driving is that the current punishment for it is ludicrous if the authorities want to actually see a drop in the rates and not just use the charge as a monetary flow for the State.
I am fed up with officers targeting anyone driving late at night for BS issues, that they ignore during the day, just hoping that when they pull them over they will find the individual is drunk and can ring the individuals pockets; at the same time ignoring the statistics that over 50% of the drivers during the day are under the influence of a controlled substance that they do not even test for if someone gets into a wreck.
My feelings are that one should only be charged with driving under the influence if they cause damage to something or someone. At which point the gravity of the situation should potentially be elevated to the level of attempted 1st degree attempted manslaughter for any wreck, even if bystanders are not involved, as it should be common knowledge that you are more likely to cause damage to other individuals when you drive under the influence of any substance.

It's a shame an innocent person had to die to take out the trash.
Random poster confirming that the passenger was not of like character to Ryan Dunn, that would never scream the words "go faster,ö that was not a consenting adult, and was not in the same state of inebriation as Ryan Dunn.
